On your walks, you may be lucky enough to come across some sheep. A veritable living lawnmower, they are there to maintain the banks of the Loire. They can be seen in the nature reserve, but also on the quays in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and Pouilly-sur-Loire.

Our landscapes change very quickly. It's a real treat for walkers. Put on your trainers and set off to discover our vineyards, our forests, the banks of the Loire and its tributaries, as well as the heart of our towns.

Vineyard hike video debrief!
David from the ‘carnet de rando’ blog tells us all about his hike around Pouilly-sur-Loire.
Most people come to the Nièvre for the Morvan. But to limit the department to its famous mountain range would be to overlook the rest of the region, which is wonderfully welcoming, delightfully intimate and rich in flavour. One of the most famous is Pouilly Fumé, a Sauvignon Blanc-based white wine with an unrivalled reputation. A pleasant stroll through the fiefdom of this historic AOC.

Places of interest
Every hike can hide architectural treasures. Did you know, for example, that an imposing castle can be found in the heart of the Donzian plains?
