François Ozon tells us about his experience:
It was important for me to set this intimate story in Burgundy, a region I love and where I spent my holidays as a child. We shot the film in Donzy, near Cosne sur Loire, a region that has rarely been filmed. The film tells of the autumn of life, but also of the autumnal beauty of these landscapes. The rhythm of the seasons and nature are very present in the colours, the light, the sounds and the noise of the water in the canals.
Filming in Donzy
It was in Donzy, in the heart of our region, that François Ozon chose to set up his cameras to bring this story to life. Attracted by the authenticity and unspoilt beauty of the place, the director made the village a real character in the film. Donzy and the surrounding area, with its picturesque streets and historic buildings, provide a unique atmosphere that reinforces the intimate nature of the film.
In addition to the natural settings, François Ozon wanted to integrate the local community by calling on the locals to act as extras. It was a wonderful way of paying tribute to the region and adding an even more realistic and authentic dimension to his work. It was an extraordinary opportunity for the local people to live a unique experience and to participate in the creation of a great film.
Local accommodation for the crew and actors
Throughout the filming, the technical crew and actors stayed in a range of accommodation in our region. From cosy gites to charming hotels, everyone was able to discover the local hospitality. These establishments played a crucial role in providing a restful environment after long days of work.
The ‘Quand Vient l'Automne’ team's visit to our region will remain etched in everyone's memories.
